#Haikai Challenge 10 (12/3/17): Arid…#haiku #senryu #haibun #tanka

Hello, haijin! And my hat’s off to you! For I haikai challenged, and you delivered! Last week, a record number of you answered the call:

Jilly–Ain’t Gonna Happen–a Haiku

Charley–Haiku: Migration

Charmed Chaos–#Haiku: Rain

revivedwriter–November Rain

qbit–Haiku–November Rain

Vivian Zems–November Rain

Xenia Trans–Where Frogs Are Sleeping

Zander–In The City

Rick Daddario–2017 Haiga Header Sampling 002 December

So, for this week’s challenge:

It’s the first Sunday of December. The Catholic Church celebrates the beginning of the Advent season, a time of preparation before Christmas. In New York State, Autumn remains in that holding pattern before yielding to winter. Some days are cool, others frigid. Brown leaves stubbornly cling to some trees, but most have withered on the ground. In spite of some passing drizzles, however, it has been dry–like some other parts of the country (yes, I’m looking at you, Jilly and Charley! ;))

This week, write a haikai poem–haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, renga, haiga, or any other Japanese-inspired poetic form–using the unconventional kigo, arid (or its synonyms). You can use it or allude to it, as you see fit.

As always:
Here’s how the challenge works:

1. Write your haikai poem (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, renga, etc.)

2. Ping-back to the Challenge by placing a link to it in your post.

3. Comment with a link to your post.

Happy hunting!

Ha! Joke’s on me; I anticipated a super moon challenge and wrote accordingly. I believe it was my 8th grade geography teach who first taught me what happens when you assume. Hahaha!

I’ve written a Haibun to post, but the super moon haiku is just too funny not to put out here –
“Look – up in the sky
Super Moon in cape and tights
      Winter’s on the run”

      🙂 🙂

You’re an editor in real life, aren’t you? LOL
Ok. But first, decking these halls. Back later with the serious and not so.
