And now, for the first Haikai challenge of the year:
This week, the east coast of the United States endured Winter Storm Grayson. Iguanas dropped from their perches in Florida. Long Island, NY, recorded over 12 inches of snow. New York City Schools closed (wo-hoo!). And New England may still be experiencing an Ice Age!

No sooner had Grayson cleared out then a blast of artic cold settled into the New York Metropolitan area!
Winter has thrown down the gauntlet. So this week, your choice of unconventional kigo includes either Winter Storm or Artic Cold. Any haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, renga, haiga or haikai poem of your choice is fair game!
As always:
Here’s how the challenge works:
1. write the haikai poem of your choice.
2. post the link of your post to Mister Linky.
3. pingback by posting the link to the challenge on your site.
4. read and comment on other contributors’ posts.
Stay warm, haijin!
