Weekend-feeling Weekday
Sharon Van Etten’s Taking Chances croons in my earbuds. Late afternoon heat breaks, and a pale-blue sky remains at sunset. Some cardinal flies from branch to branch, as the hoot of an early-rising owl sounds.
More songs play, while twilight descends, and our nightlight turns on.
Last birdsongs. My hand slaps my leg and kills a mosquito. Frankie leans against my chest, and his mother’s, while reading.
