“A Nice Game of Chess”: A #dversepoets #quadrille #haibun

White moves King’s pawn to E4. Black answers with Queen’s knight to F6.

I process combinations.  My opponent runs sub-routines.

A flurry of moves. Pawns fall, Bishops pin, Queens clash.

Until the puzzle is complete.

Great use for the word puzzle… No puzzle for the mathematical mind! Big puzzle for minds like mine!!

Thank you! I’ve been obsessed with the game ever since I rewatched “Searching for Bobby Fischer” in 2000! 😆

Indeed, Frank! The iPhone chess app (by optime software) played well, but I played better that game. If only I could beat it at a higher difficulty level! 😆

Genius! I once enjoyed chess in real time with a real person but I could never solve the chess puzzles or play against a computer – too much of a puzzle! The haiku is perfect.

Clever! Darkness always wins. And when you think about it, that’s not always the case with the rising sun 🙂

I have never really enjoyed chess… probably because you have to lose too many games before you start to win.

It is a game that can make–or break–one’s ego. Because win or lose, it’s all on us.

Wonderful the way you’ve brought the game to life. I could see those Queens clashing. The pale sun seems to bring the calm.
