Looking ahead:

It’s October. Maple leaves have begun to turn. A spectacle of brilliant color appears as the sun sets. The peak of foliage will soon arrive.

What better kigo than foliage (red leaves (momiji)). The kigo momiji refers to maple leaves turning, in particular. Perfect for the Hudson river valley–not to mention my own backyard!

Write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to foliage (red leaves (momiji)).

As always:

Here’s how the challenge works:

1. write the haikai poem of your choice.
2. post the link of your post to Mister Linky.
3. pingback by posting the link to the challenge on your site.
4. read and comment on other contributors’ posts.

To all celebrating Yom Kippur this Wednesday, October 9, 2019, have a good fast. And enjoy the foliage this season, haijin!
