Ultreya!

Mad March slipped through my fingers like a sandfall from a shattered hourglass. While some cold days continue to shake things up, warm weather continues. The grass looks greener, the Maple by the deck blossoms, the daffodils and forsythias already arrived.

This time of year brings to mind transfomation. The frozen earth yields to rising temperatures and becomes fertile soil. Bare trees sprout their buds, and are soon in full bloom. Gardens literally come alive.

This week, then, let’s write our haikai by looking at the following kigo through the lens of transformation. What is it? What does it look like? You decide!

DateKigo
3/13daffodil / Ides of March
3/20forsythia / Equinox I
3/27Palm/ Worm Moon
4/3Lily / Easter

Select the date and kigo you like, then write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc) that alludes to your selection.

As always:

Here’s how the challenge works:

1. write the haikai poem of your choice.
2. post the link of your post to Mister Linky.
3. pingback by posting the link to the challenge on your site.
4. read and comment on other contributors’ posts.

Happy Easter, haijin! May you savor your own transformations!
