あらくさの下葉深きゆ湧き出づる虫の音ジーと道貫けり

welling from the depth
of wild grasses’ lower lobe …
the chirping
of insects’ songs
through the path

風ゆれて黄花コスモスさはだちぬ今日の元気とシャッターをきる
a gentle breeze…
yellow cosmos smiling
to me …
I activate a camera shutter
for today’s energy

朝露にぬるる芒の影ふかくあやしの雲はただよひひろぐ
magical clouds
floating in the sky
spread
the deep shadows of silver grasses
wet with morning dew…

あはれなり…蝉をからめし蜘蛛の糸その亡骸を宙天におく
pathos …
silk web twining
a cicada
leaves its lifeless body
amid the sky

残月は十六夜なるか身わがみに無き二夜明け空にをさむる
is the moon at dawn
Izayoi?
after two days and nights
when I was not mine
I let myself to the void
※Izayoi / 十六夜 is Japanese and it means “six-day-old moon”.

百穀の神のほほ笑み溢(こぼ)れむか高ひかる日に稲穂煌めく
God of grains
brimming over with smiles…
the sun
shining high
ears of rice-plants brighten

昼ふけてをとめ歩みし谿あいに蜻蛉の翅みどり透かしも
daytime deepens…
a girl walking
in the valley
sees Edenesque green
