#Haikai Challenge #135: New Moon

#Haiku Happenings #1 (4/20/20): Jade Li’s latest #gendai #haiku sequence for my current #haikai challenge!

Lisa or Li's avatarTao Talk

The lunatics wait
for her arrival each month –
when she is all theirs.
* * *
Her lasting beauty
needs its sleep; she retires to
a darkened chamber.
* * *
New Moon gives stars a
chance to take center stage, but
only once a month.
* * *
Jealous eyes wonder
what she does when she’s gone far –
returning lips sealed.
* * *
Rivers pine away,
ungraced by her silver light –
owls hoot her return.

These are in a haiku form but not the traditional format. Hoping they will be acceptable for this week’s Haikai Challenge.

Frank J. Tassone is the host of Haikai Challenge.  Frank says:
This week, write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to the new moon.
