For Frank J. Tassone’s haikai challenge, which this week is about the winter solstice. Here in southern California, we don’t really have seasons, but it is getting a little colder. I love this time if year! However, the fires worry me, though I live far enough away.

In California,

Mid-December comes with no

Blankets of white snow,

Many trees seem evergreen.

Fires help us seasons know.

    I was not aware you were so close to the fires! I am sure that in CA you do count the seasons by the Santa Anna winds, mud slides and such. A different reality of seasons.
