#Haiku Happenings #1 (8/21/18): revivedwriter’s latest #haibun for my current #haikai challenge!
Frank J. Tassone’s haikai prompt for this week is aki chikashi, which means “autumn near.” Here in southern California, autumn does not feel near, so I thought it would be difficult to write this. However, yesterday I got an idea.
Out to dinner with my might-as-well-be-grandparents, Grandma points out that it is getting darker earlier. It is already almost 8:00, yet I agree that she is right, though I hadn’t noticed before. The next morning, it is evident that the sun is not rising quite as early, either. Part of me wishes to gave been kept in the dark.
Time’s painful passage
The future wants to be born
Time waits for no one
