For Frank J. Tassone’s lastest haikai prompt, the kigo was unfamiliar to me: Whitebait (shirauo). It turned out to be a type small, young fish. 

Souls are whitebait fish,

Lent is time to grow in love

And eat fish fillets

The ending is a little goofy, but it’s true!
