# 78 Satisfaction
bucolic stage set

mists become solidsas if just one of the girls…
shimmering, the spirit stoodNo left over holiday decoration; yet like little colorful candles consumed by their flames once lit – a waxy impression twists to take hold of my memory. One that I wasn’t a part of, but is being shared – I stare. The animals have gone silent. Though Byrd with seemingly adept familiarity poses on a fence rail as if resting on a ghostly shoulder.
The white horse can be seen through the image, and is not disturbed. I have to assume I am safe to move along with my own question… if it’s too perfect is it real? I have to believe that on some plain of existence magic is indeed very real. I try hard to take in all the details of the smiling face. Is this Ife, the woman whose husband so lovingly carried to her freedom that ended here (a final resting place) at this little family cemetery? Byrd as if answering my unasked question flies to an unmarked stone and and settles. I turn to look where he’s landed – is this where I should place my old glass bottle that I etched Ife’s name. I want to place it there, I look back to the fence and the image has disappeared. I have a strong feeling Ife will return…
