nd 7.25 Rain Dance? 2p

#Haiku Happenings #4: Jules’ latest poetic #haibun for my current #haikai challenge!

Rain Dance?

Twice we went to the famed Niagara
Passports required… but not stamped.
I think of old valises with stickers on them…
All the places one could go, once upon a time

Took the Maid of the Mist ride once…
Showered with the falls –
The deafening roar of powerful water
Turned into quite a tourist trap.

I still prefer the ocean and salted air
Didn’t even despair when we got caught
And drenched in that storm ~
We watched the dark clouds approaching

How cold could the rain be in summer?
Cold enough, but not as destructive as the wake
Of the hurricanes… that we encountered
Two different Decembers while visiting Florida.

unique force water
ice, steam, flowing, gentle, fierce
to live in the sea…

under it, as a mermaid
joyful of changing currents

living by the creek
watching seasonal changes ~
close home and my heart
