Kinichi Sawaki

from “Haiku Dai-Saijiki” (“Comprehensive Haiku Saijiki”), Kadokawa Shoten, Tokyo, 2006

Fay’s Note: Kinichi Sawaki (1919-2001) Strictly speaking, ‘keichitsu’ (the day when insects emerge from hibernation underground), around March 6 in the solar calendar, is different from ‘Ground Hog’s Day’ in English, normally around February 2.
