How You See it Matters
Another bus full of tourist rips by, the wind causing my car to veer slightly. I wonder at the faces I see pressed to the window. They sit still and watch the world go by, those out of state leaf-peepers, trying to catch a glimpse of red and orange fall through a screen. I have reached my destination and pull off of the road. There are few other cars so I know I’ll have the trail to myself. Another bus roars by, picking up a flurry of color as it passes. I leave the roadside before the last brick red glider settles. It only takes a few minutes before the sound of Man is left far behind. I am now surrounded in nature’s color, taking in the fireworks of the foliage, watching the squirrels play and listening to the wind and the water. In my…
