Modulations, gentle and harsh, soft and loud,: the audience is transported to previously unimaginable places of the spirit. There follows rapturous applause. Then, uplifted, the people drift out, back along dim streets to desolate parking lots. One old couple walk hand-in-hand like young lovers. Awaiting them is a palace of white marble and sumptuous draperies.
