一とむらのおいらん草に夕涼み   三橋鷹女

hitomura no oiransô ni yûsuzumi

            a cluster

            of ‘courtesan’ grass

            the cool of the evening

Fay’s Note:   Takajo Mitsuhashi (1899-1972)    ‘oiransô’ (‘summer phlox,’ literal translation: ‘courtesan grass’) is a summer kigo.
