#Haikai Challenge #52 (9/22/18): harvest #haiku #senryu #haibun #tanka #haiga #renga

Friday I received an emergency alert on my cell phone, a tornado was about to hit us.

As if one tornado was not enough, it ended up being three tornadoes back to back in the space of approximately 30 minutes.

A few minutes after the cell phone alert, all power went off, leaving us in the dark for three days.

Some lost homes; others are still in the dark.

Harvest collected prior to the storm scattered to four corners of darkness.

Without refrigeration at home, we lost all our food.

The good “harvest” came from solidarity within neighbourhoods; everyone helping each other.

This to me was the greatest “harvest” of all, abundant selfless caring and love for your neighbour.
