Winter Elegance

(written from my little girl memory)

As a young girl, living with my family, on a street in front of an outdoor skating rink.

Sunday afternoons, I’d skate with my father, arm in arm, round and round.

Every now and then, we’d stop to help my little sister back on her feet, she with two bladed skates strapped over her boots.

My other little sister, with fancy white skates, she also fell down.

My younger brother, the pro on skates, circled around us all, speeding like a jet out of hell.

Back inside for hot chocolate and Walt Disney on television.
