new life

…..Five lines, a kind of tanka, for the Haikai Challenge – fawn – kanoko. The challenge inspired me to learn that the largest number of fawns are born in late May and early June. Over the years I have seen an adult deer in my backyard and fleetingly, adults and young deer grazing together by the roads. This year I heard stories about people seeing fawns concealed by their mothers…who, like baby birds, await their mother’s return and should not be touched.

The other mentions in the poem, the frog, the goslings and breezes are all of recent days.
