#Haiku Happenings #6: Jules’ latest #haibun for my former and current #haikai challenge!
Musing the Malstrom
(190 word fiction haibun)The diary beneath her pillow barely eluded to the windstorm of her brain’s activity. She had an inner strength she was learning to call on – so she would not call in sick. Wearing her huge mirrored glasses she thought she could protect her image, while absorbing everything else.
The season was changing, time for autumn contemplation. Just what was expected of her? When she gave of herself, was she also giving to herself? Why, if she was the only soul of her universe where there any choices at all?
Imagination allowed travel both forwards backwards. Reading history and science fiction made her dreams interesting to review. Who would believe that she was Cleopatra or also Caesars wife? Or that she was an evolved being from a different universe.
While waiting for the repair people to fix the elevator this morning, her co-worker asked, “Can we share that last Tic Tac Candy, I didn’t have breakfast?” She just gave it to him. Was he thinking of sharing a kiss? Odd that she never thought of him as Mark Anthony…
