Curfew: Day 8

#Haiku Happenings #6: Rajani’s latest #haibun!

THOTPURGE

April 1st. Summer is settling in at 34C. The locked down are settling into their second week. Those who can, are hoarding and staying home. Those who can’t are making the rounds every day for food. Those who have no more money are finding their way to shelters. Those who have no more options are finding their way back home.

Some people are quoting Eliot – April is the cruellest month.
Some people are dreaming of mangoes ripening on the boughs.
Some people are watching doctors and nurses beginning to test positive.

does the calm always know
of the storm
that lies in wait
