Curfew: Day 17

#Haiku Happenings #5: Rajani’s latest #haibun!

THOUGHT PURGE

Hotspots are being cordoned off. Mass graves are being dug. Families are saying goodbye through walls of glass. Healthcare workers are covered in flimsy plastic. People are lining up for food. People are lining up for government handouts. The images flow all day long. Of privileged quarantine. Of desperation. Of a world united. Of a world divided. To borrow from Willam Carlos Williams:

so much depends
upon
the shape of a
curve
and the way you walked
away
tonight, not
touching

alone –
my world grows larger
than the universe
