#Haibun Why I Write the way I do…DVerse’s Haibun Monday

Because I can.

Because every memory screams story in images.

Because haiku alone ain’t enough.

Because each turn of phrase breathes fresh life into me.

Because I must.

I liked best because each turn of phrase breathes in fresh life.

I agree with Bjorn about the urgency. I also like the almost childish truculence and defiance in the lines that begin with ‘Because’ which then soften in the stunning haiku.

Love the line because haiku alone ain’t enough. It’s freedom to let the the words spill out when there is no other way to let out the memory which screams out story in images. Enjoyed reading this so much 😊

“…because I must…”. Yes, it is like that, isn’t it. That sudden pen-to-paper flash. Perfect description of the process here, Frank.

I’ve waited for this response to come along. Why do I write? Because. A great reason!

I love the passion and gratitude in your words. ‘Because I can’ is such a powerful opening statement. Not everyone can write and not everyone is free to write (people like Raif Badawi). You are taking this opportunity and embracing it wholeheartedly. A beautiful and powerful haibun Frank!☺

I also liked the sense of urgency–somewhat fierce, and then the lovely ending image of the birds in flight.

I love the “because”. Because I must. Because I lose pieces of myself if Info not. I missed this prompt due to problems with my eyes. It is good to read it at last.

Frank, I always enjoy your take on life. Historically, I feel like people wrote poetry as a way to tell their stories – just like songs. It definitely helped to memorize a moment in time like a photo does today. I love your passion. Please keep writing poetry! ❤
