#Free-style Friday: a #haibun for #dVerse Poets’ Pub’s MTB – sleep

Her Infirmity is My Insomnia

I wake up at four in the morning. Try and sleep again. Mira coughs, inhales hard. Coughs again. She gets up and sprays her nostrils with her over-the-counter spray.

I listen to her. All the while hoping for a sleep that does not come.

For dVerse Poets Pub’s MTB–Sleep

I tacked in a different direction. A lot of my sleep lately has been the interrupted kind. HIIMI exemplifies this recurring experience.

There’s such an intimacy in this verse – her name, the sound of the spray etc. – and then the dawn in the haiku. V. nice.

I think being close to someone sleeping can keep you awake… especially if you feel that you can’t wake them up… love the haiku

I can remember well my husband’s snoring while I tried to fall asleep. Wonderful haiku!

It looks like it is very early in the morning anyway. I sometimes take such opportunities to get up.

Very nice haibun! Our human reality and nature’s reality.
