Aย  Saint Psalmody

francis_bellini

I look to you, Francis of Assisi, and what you did when you answered the call.

How your hands must have ached, holding each stone on those cold mornings. You lifted stone after stone into place, until the pile of ruins took on the image of the old Church it once was.

But that wasn’t what our Lord meant when he told you, “rebuild my Church,” is it?

No, it was not. That was one of many reasons that I called myself “brother ass.” Who else but me needed the Lord’s voice to echo in my ears to do His will? But why do you look to me, when your own path begins under your feet? Seek your answers in the silence of your own heart, where you will hear the whisper of our Lord’s voice. Listen, then do what He tells you.

Nicely done. For these reasons, St. Francis is my favorite Saint.

How often do we follow our own thinking when we hear the voice? Until enlightenment allows us to see, truly. Brother Ass….ha. I like that. Perhaps I need to change my own name. But all too true in where we need to seek our answers.

“Your own path begins under your own feet” … so obvious and yet so ignored! I loved your wise words, beautifully presented.

I love Saint Francis, friend of animals. And especially like “your own path begins under your feet.”

Listening for the Lord’s still small voice…that’s the hard part.
