Jane Dougherty’s A Month with Yeats: Day 11 offers the following:

Today’s quote is from ‘The Harp of Aengus’ by W.B. Yeats.

‘Where time is drowned in odour-laden winds

And Druid moons, and murmuring of boughs,’

She holds tight the thread of dreams

And so I respond:

burning leaves

firelight in the eyes

of a weird sister

her ethereal dream floats up

on a fresh spire of sparks

Mystical! What’s the story behind the painting? The old women look like the Norns, but who’s the one with the mask, and why is he pointing at a distant cherub?

    Huh! Someone hasn’t read the play then. There are no cherubs on clouds or toga-wearing rams horns wearing guys either. Talk about artistic licence…
