Unrealized Disasters

A pair of headlights reflect off the rain-soaked street. Bird cries sound in the distance. The naked branch-ends of the Cherry Tree next door tremble like the swaying fingers of concert fans.

The terrible things that I went through this week never happened. Somewhere in Elmira, New York’s Woodlawn Cemetary, Mark Twain is laughing his ass off.
