For Jane Doughertyโ€™s A Month with Yeats: Day 13:

Todayโ€™s quote is from โ€˜The Hosting of the Sidheโ€™ by W.B. Yeats.

โ€˜Away, come away:

Empty your heart of its mortal dream.โ€™

nighttime thunder

I answer the Wild Huntโ€™s call

and embrace the wind

Why did I ever trouble

with the fear of dying?

How very odd! I came across that painting this afternoon when I was looking for an illustration for a Norse story. I love the ‘don’t care’ feel to this poem, wild and furious.

    “Why did I ever trouble

with the fear of dying?” – Exactly. That was the theme of my poem today. Not as succinct like yours.
