Stained in front. A ridiculous grin bordering on offensive stereotype. Boistrous and irrelevant. But oh, so joyful!
I saw the happy Buddha in a new age-esque boutique near the hotel in which we stayed. Earlier that day, we had ascended Mount Washington in New Hampshire via a tour bus. Now, after a sumptuous dinner, we strode through the trendy downtown of Conway, NH.
Something about this statuette reminded me of the laughing Buddhas at the Stir Crazy franchise once located in the Palisades Mall, back home. I could feel their infectious joy.
An easy decision later, I left the boutique with Buddha in hand.
The exuberance of that dull thing still lifts my lips into a smile.
