As though it could be any other way.
As though I have not tried measure after measure. All to encounter a brush-off as tender as a backhand across the face.
As though a quarter-century-plus experience matters less than a petulant mood.
All that’s left, then, is the trouble to get into. To let go, and follow my own counsel, not the quivering need to preen for approval. To not “give a good God-damn!”
As though I would accept anything less.
