Veil-Piercing: A Halloween-adjacent Encounter

twilight…

how bare treetops

pierce the sky

along the sidewalk

we exchange gifts & news

just a hint

of a cadaver scent

& her translucence

a sad smile as she

sees that I see

one passing wind

& she fades

the flutter

of falling foliage…

halloween lights

That sure was spooky ending after a lovely start! A wonderful Halloweeny poem, Frank.

This is eerie and sweet at the same time (that scent is a bit spooky)

Ah, the ambiguity of the personal poem – who was she – why the sadness – was she even real or a poet’s conjuring – only you know, Frank…
