PSA: “& We’re back…”

Miss me?

I surely missed you! & you deserve an explanation.

Plus, it makes a good story.

It began with a blurry screen. Suprisingly, I had no such problems at work. “Oh well, I had a good run,” I thought to myself. So I dug up an old pair of over-the-counter reading glasses and continued blogging.

Only after the first day, I noticed an unusual headache. As I continued blogging, the headaches continued. This was new—and unwelcome.

After almost a month of this—with an interruption by a family cruise (another story)—I decided to see an Opthamologist. Of course, being me, I scheduled the appointment about an hour before I intended to see the summer blockbuster “The Odessey” with my son.

Dr. O is an unassuming, late-middle aged doctor with a pleasant and loquacious demeanor. His initial examination consisted of the usual identify-the-letter charts. Then proceeded to close-ups, using eye drops. Eyeball pressure tests followed. A mixture of lens to look through at the letter chart. The appointed hour for the movie came and went. At last, Dr. O had a diagnonsis.

I was the proud possessor of a cataract in my right eye.

Young as I was, I had a cataract that already altered my vision. The reason I suddenly didn’t need reading glasses after almost a decade? Intense near-sightedness in my right eye—courtesy of the cataract. Left untreated, my farsight would be in trouble. Due to the distorted vision, Dr. O couldn’t prescribe an eyeglass prescription that would solve my sight difficulty.

Therefore, Cataract surgery it was!

a trickle

I went in for my surgery yesterday and returned from my post-operative appointment this morning. O declared that the surgery went “perfectly.” Beyond the usual after-surgery instructions, I’m back to normal activities. Once I’ve determined the most appropriate readers, I intend to become as regular a poster as I once was back in the day.

Thus ends my tale of woe and overdue accounting for my absence. Stay tuned!

I went through the same early this summer… (on both eyes) I now have almost perfect vision and if had not been for reading I wouldn’t need any glasses at all. Thankfully the cost was very low (except my new progressive glasses I sometimes have). Cataract surgery for me took about 10 minutes to complete and then 3 weeks of eyedrops.

My experience is similar. My right eye now has 20/20 vision–stronger than my left! I’m back to using OTC reading glasses. I also am taking eye drops for three weeks.

Precisely… I had the “luck” of doing both eyes… so both are more or less perfect now.
