A Poet’s Plans…#haibun #haiku #poetry #dVerse

Over at dVerse, Toni sings her swan song as a bartender, and she asks us to consider our plans for tonight’s Haibun Monday. While she will remain a patron of dVerse, she departs as a staff member, so she can pursue her writing and education goals. Best of luck to you, Toni!

A Poet’s Plans

Plans?

More like visions.

I see my website and blog growing in followers. I see a haibun-memoir of growing up with an intellectually challenged brother and an alcoholic mother. I see a collection of my haibun from Image Curve published. I see another haibun-memoir of my career as a New York City Special Education teacher. I see a book of my other haikai poetry. I see the stories I have wanted to tell for so long finally become the books I’ve longed to write. I see my living a full-time poet’s life.

These are my plans.

waxing moon

another moment enshrined

Both memoirs sound fascinating. I would love to hear more about both topics.

Such a wonderful vision! and such an amazing haiku. The waxing moon….I love the moon and its stages as a kigo. So much to learn about you in this haibun. I hope our publishing dreams go well for both of us!

Thank you, Toni! I hope we can both converse as book-published poets someday soon! I will miss your regular prompts at dVerse, haijin! But Iโ€™m happy for you! ๐Ÿ˜€

I love this, especially since my haibun today was about finishing my memoir! I dream of being a full-time writer and inspirational speaker, but so far it’s not lucrative enough to quit my day job. Hope you achieve the goal.

The full time poets life sometimes does not come till retirement. Speaking from experience!
You have a special calling as a special ed teacher. Good for you!

Thank you, Dwight. Of course, I did not say when that full-time poetโ€™s life will begin. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Iโ€™m not far from retirement, and I get closer each year.

Wonderful, Frank. Those are the stories that must be told. I have some books on a shelf, and more to come, and it is the best thing I have ever done, I think……something to leave behind to say that we were here.

To aspire for so many is a right start for having plans to be worked out later. Right on Frank!
