No sooner did we celebrate warmth than another cold spell enveloped the Northeast! Nevertheless, Haijin, you bore witness to the inevitable turn toward spring (at least in the northern hemisphere).

Congratulations to last week’s contributors:

Looking ahead, now!

Tomorrow marks the 48th celebration of Earth Day. As Earth Day Network President Kathleen Rogers declares:

Earth Day is now a global event each year, and we believe that more than 1 billion people in 192 countries now take part in what is the largest civic-focused day of action in the world.

It is a day of political action and civic participation. People march, sign petitions, meet with their elected officials, plant trees, clean up their towns and roads. Corporations and governments use it to make pledges and announce sustainability measures. Faith leaders, including Pope Francis, connect Earth Day with protecting Godโ€™s greatest creations, humans, biodiversity and the planet that we all live on.

Earth is our home. Whether we believe that we are part and parcel to its nature or stewards charged with its care, Earth is our home. How well we take care of it determines how well we live as a species–and how well the rest of Earth’s species live.

Our unconventional kigo for this week is Earth. Write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that states or alludes to Earth.

As always:

Hereโ€™s how the challenge works:

1. write the haikai poem of your choice.
2. post the link of your post to Mister Linky.
3. pingback by posting the link to the challenge on your site.
4. read and comment on other contributorsโ€™ posts.

Happy Earth Day, Haijin!

And for those participating in GloPoWriMo2018/NaPoWriMo2018, take heart! Only a Novena (nine days) to go! ๐Ÿ™‚
