It’s past mid-August. Signs of the changing season abound. The daylight fades earlier (in the Northern hemisphere) or grows (in the southern hemisphere). Sporadic breezes blow and fade. Days of cool penetrate the swelter of typical summer days. The traditional calendar begins autumn (in the northern hemisphere) at the beginning of August. For those of us living the gregorian in the West, summer reigns on–but it begins to show signs of the Autumn to come.
Thus, we come to our kigo for this week. Write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to autumn near (aki chikashi)
