Moving forward:
I saw geese flying in V formation yesterday. I heard their whoops. What I didn’t hear was the song of birds in the backyard. Autumn proceeds. The leaves begin to color, and some have already fallen. The birds have therefore begun to vacate the premises. While the festivals proceed apace, our avian friends fly the coop.
In honor of their annual migration, therefore, our kigo this week is migrating birds (wataridori). Write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that states or refers to migrating birds (wataridori).
