Hematologist Follow-up

Another doctor’s office. The same sterile scent and antiseptic odor in the exam room. Light-wood paneling, natural setting, photos on the wall, white Formica countertops.

All to find out if my medication has begun to kill me.

Thanks, Grace. No worries! Like many of my haibun published in Image Curve, I wrote this one a few years ago. I made it! 😆

That’s good to hear, Frank. I was about to ask if I should pray for you.

And this is why I loathed doctor appointments. Hope all goes well Frank.

Hope the meds are helping, not hurting. I take 14 different pills, and 3-4 syringes a day – do my doctors and endocrinologists run me through the monrhly gauntlet of tests and blood screens. But remember dude, without the meds, we’re screwed!

So true. I set up morning and evening pill containers each week for all the meds I’m on! 😆

All is well, Sanaa. Even though I write in the present tense, the situation occurred a few years ago. Thanks! 😀

I was going to write that we were both visiting doctors this week and having blood drawn, but I see in above comments that this was from a few years ago. I’m glad all is well. Like whippetwisdom I liked the description of the nurse.

Yes, there is that certain smell that comes with exam rooms. It isn’t a good memory.
I like the ending of this. Glad it all worked out.

The haibun is chilling, so I’m glad it’s no longer hanging over you.
