See what you see: A river of starlight across the black, the sparkles of starlight across dark water.
Experience the sight. Feel the awe that comes from perceiving the sheer immensity of the expanse. Marvel at the serene joy of light amidst darkness.
Then imbed sight and intrepretation in language that evokes the musicality of that moment. Shape the images with simple description or nuanced metaphor. Let the enjoyment of the play of words come through, but ensure that it serves the story.
Then accent all of it with the conjoining of complementary images, so that the resultant haiku or tanka reinforces or complements the prose before it.
Savor the sensation that follows.
Crescent
moon-blown ripples
on evening tide
how a heaven-circling hope
comes from letting go
