Onward!

May has arrived. But to the New York Metropolitan area, it’s still April, judging from the weather. Rain has fallen since yesterday evening. So much for “April showers bring May flowers!”

Still, the sudden growth has been spectacular. I performed some service on my lawn tractor last week, because the grass needs a trim already! And seemingly overnight, the budding trees have grown their canopies.

Therefore, this week’s kigo seems apt: trees newly green (shinju).

Write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to trees newly green (shinju).

As always:

Here’s how the challenge works:

1. write the haikai poem of your choice.
2. post the link of your post to Mister Linky.
3. pingback by posting the link to the challenge on your site.
4. read and comment on other contributors’ posts.

Savor the green, haijin! And a belated May the Fourth be with you!

  1. Pingbacks aren’t working for me. I have to go looking for everyone of them I usually get as a pingback. Good thing I have a list of who I write for so I can still do them every week. I hope WordPress gets this fixed soon. It is not everyone because I do see some pingbacks, but mine don’t come through and I hear others complaining as well.
