Stark images. Virulent quotes. Intensities of expression across social media platforms and lunch tables alike. A jaded comment sits on a Facebook post. A sharp retort forms, a reaction in the making. All of the agitation, and yet the problems remain.
A clear sky. Heavy humidity from the Maples’ transpiration. The song and countersong of songbirds from high up in the canopy. A calm, steady peace, arising from just this.
How can I advocate for change without agitation? How do I bear witness without ranchor?
Independence
begins in a heart and mind
calm and quiet
move from the double-weighted
without losing the root

I love the question. Advocating for change takes courage, more than one lonely writer can muster.

I love the link to Lao Tzu and the sage wisdom of your words. I compared the current state of politics to an earthquake! I should have read your words first. LOL! ❤

Thank you, Colleen! I needed to find my balance because I was losing it over the current, maddening political situation! 😆

How indeed! I think its a balance – we can’t help but agitate some when we speak our truth – but we must also center ourselves (listen to the birds is good) and make sure we are listening as well as speaking out.
