Ultreya!
I survived my foray in the desert! Leave it to this haijin to plan an American Southwest ’19 vacation during the summer! We reached the point that we enjoyed the relative cool of 90 degrees F temperatures–after enduring highs of 112 F!
But they say, “at least it’s a dry heat.” Sure. What they don’t tell you is how you’ll blow blood through your nostrils when you blow your nose. Your lips will chap and your skin will dry. In the end, the only difference between being a lobster in a pot without water is being baked, not boiled.
Thankfully, we returned to New York–right in time for a heat wave! This time, the lobster boils, as humidity and high temperature make the air feel over 100 degrees F!
Needless to say, this week’s kigo is a late summer one appropriate to the weather I’ve endured, and many of you still will: smoldering [hot] (moyuru).
Write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to smoldering heat (moyuru).
As always:
Hereโs how the challenge works:
1. write the haikai poem of your choice.
2. post the link of your post to Mister Linky.
3. pingback by posting the link to the challenge on your site.
4. read and comment on other contributorsโ posts.
Stay cool, haijin!
