Looking ahead:
It’s late. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2020 is almost over. Nevertheless, the mission remains. Dr. King’s “I have a Dream” speech articulated a vision that we, in the United States especially, still need to realize.
It’s easy to lose hope these days. But during the height of the Civil Rights movement, hope appeared to be in short supply, too. That’s why none of us can surrender to any darkness, however ascendant. The Dream awaits fulfillment. It is up to all of us to put our shoulder to the wheel and make it so.
This week, commemorate the Dream in a haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.)
