Looking ahead:

“…To the East, land of the wet wind…”

line from a ceremony, Order of the Arrow (BSA)

The pine boughs rise and fall. I hear my old wind chime ringing out underneath the deck. Cottonball cumulus float across the clearing sky. The wind is here.

There have been some blustery days. A passing tempest knocked over an adirondack chair; I mistook it for an animal one night. When it passes through our neighborhood, we hear the low woosh, a dull roar that marks its passing. As March appears on the horizon, I expect I’ll hear more and more of the wind.

What better week for the spring kigo, East Wind (Kochi)?

This week, write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to the East wind (Kochi).

As always:

Hereโ€™s how the challenge works:

1. write the haikai poem of your choice.
2. post the link of your post to Mister Linky.
3. pingback by posting the link to the challenge on your site.
4. read and comment on other contributorsโ€™ posts.

Break out those windbreakers, haijin!

A little better about being ‘on the ball’ this week with a (3 prompt) solo renga (title is blog link)

Not sure if it’s okay to do a 2nd one for the prompt…but the inspiration was there, so I went with it ๐Ÿ™‚

Frank, I have a question about acceptable forms for Haikai Challenge. At shadowpoetry.com I found katauta and a double katauta, aka sedoka. Are they ok to use for this challenge?

Hi Jade, sorry for the late response. Both the Katsura and Sedoka are fine. If itโ€™s a form of haikai, itโ€™s fair game for the #haikai challenge, and these forms fit! ๐Ÿ˜‰

OK cool. I was looking for a form today and ran across them and they sounded like they would fit ๐Ÿ™‚
