Onward!

I missed February’s full moon. Fortunately, this month offers one of the year’s supermoons:

When aย Full Moonย takes place when the Moon is near its closest approach to Earth, it is called a Super Full Moon. When there is aย New Moonย around the closest point to Earth, it is known as a Super New Moon.

The Full Moon of March is known as the Worm Moon:

The Full Moon in March is the Worm Moon, and it is usually considered the last Full Moon of winter. It is also called Lenten Moon, Crow Moon, Crust Moon, Chaste Moon, Sugar Moon, and Sap Moon.

As it’s the last Full Moon before the first Equinox, the Worm Moon has acquired other names, such as the Crow and Lenten Moon. It’s yet another sign of our transition to spring–as if the weather in New York’s backyard this winter hinted at anything else!

This week, write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to the Super (Worm) Moon.

As always:

Hereโ€™s how the challenge works:

1. write the haikai poem of your choice.
2. post the link of your post to Mister Linky.
3. pingback by posting the link to the challenge on your site.
4. read and comment on other contributorsโ€™ posts.

Happy moon gazing, haijin!
