The Daffidils rose. The forsythias bloomed. The crabapple tree has begun to bud. The temperatures warm with the lengthening days. Meanwhile, today is already Palm Sunday! Passover begins at sundown on Wednesday. The Triduum will close out the week, and Easter arrives next sunday. Nature and Liturgy witness that, at least in the northern hemisphere, Spring has come into its own!
With the season’s ascendancy, the songbirds have returned. Their morning choir breaks out with the dawn once again. Even though we all continue to endure the pandemic, let’s take time to savor their songs.
This week, write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to twittering (saezuri).
