It’s midway through the fourth week of Remote Learning. If we were still in our school, we would be off for Spring vacation. But in these pandemic times, a break is not an option. Therefore, we faculty came up with the next best thing: four grade-level projects that each incorporate the four core subjects of each grade.
It’s an easy assignment, one students would have a week-and-a-half to complete. We thought it an improvement over the storm surge of subject-specific assignments we’d delivered the last two-and-a-half weeks. An easy week would also give our students much-needed time to catch up on past-due work.
Should I have been suprised, then, when I checked my google Classrooms and found some one hundred students that could fail for missing remote learning assignments? Of course not! No, what was suprising was at least one response I received from one of the hundred students I emailed about their missing work.
“My laptop doesn’t work now, and before that I didn’t understand your work, anyway.”
