What higher praise can I offer you, mother, than a prayer through you to your son?
these remains
of devotional sculpture
how can I witness
such things with these dry eyes
and still go on living?

So beautiful, Frank……….those dry eyes want to weep a few tears, I suspect. Mine, too.

Indeed, a beautiful sculpture – though slightly damaged, still capturing the essence of that archetypal motherhood, powerful enough to overcome anyone with emotion. And yes, a sad contrast to ‘these things’ we are witnessing now.

Eloquent, reverent and beautifully imagined, as well as strongly visual–one can see the statuary melt into the concept of the being behind it.
