Ultreya!

Labor Day weekend is upon us, here in the US. The unofficial ending of summer, with the corresponding closure of pools, beaches, and amusement parks, comes with it. Well, at least for pools and beaches, during these COVID times.

Schools begin in New York State–remote or hybrid. This is a sign of Autumn, even with three weeks of summer on the calendar still. Don’t expect the sunny season to go quietly into the night, either.

September is that month when some summer heat still sizzles. Those of you living in the New York Metropolitan area know what I’m talking about. Those searing temperatures; that suffocating humidity: it’s like August never left! Thus, we have this week’s kigo: remaining heat (zansho).

Write the #Haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to remaining heat (zansho).

As always:

Hereโ€™s how the challenge works:

1. write the haikai poem of your choice.
2. post the link of your post to Mister Linky.
3. pingback by posting the link to the challenge on your site.
4. read and comment on other contributorsโ€™ posts.

Stay as cool as you can, haijin. For those celebrating, happy Labor Day!

    Hi

Have written about the Indian autumn, when we see some freak heat waves sometimes. Not sure to what extent this relates with the topic ๐Ÿ™‚
