PSA: An Accounting

Seven years ago, I launched “American Haijin.” I did so because, as my tagline says, haikai poetry matters. Of course, one can read that either as a verb or a noun. Either way, the intent is the same: sharing haikai poetry.

That’s proven difficult during the past two years. I’ve struggled through one of the most debilitating writer’s block of my career. Certainly life circumstances contributed to this. I won’t bore you with the details, but suffice to say, the one joke guaranteed to make God laugh is that one where you tell Him your plans.

If you’ve followed me since the beginning, you’ll appreciate what effect this block has had on the frequency of my content. If you’re somewhat new, then this may come as a shock to you, but the lack of frequency is exceptional. Whether you’ve just joined or are a founding reader, I feel grateful to you. Thank you.

While I can’t promise that I’m out of the woods yet, I am currently on a streak that approaches a month of posting daily. Sure, some of them are #SilentSunday posts, but even writer’s need a day off, write? Hopefully, I can continue this consistency.

Whether or not I do, however, the fundamental truth remains: Haikai Poetry matters.
